Natural or manufactured stone of different types, in different colors and textures is widely used by architects, interior designers and builders because of its beauty, durability and luxury look. It is a great material to create eye-catching accents throughout the house. It can be used in literally every room and fits in almost any decor style.

In the living room

In the living room you can use stone to decorate the TV corner, the fireplace, the partition wall between the living room and kitchen, or the columns, if there are such. As natural and artificial stone comes in numerous shapes, textures, colors and finishes, it can easily fit into every decor style. If you use it to reface your fireplace, be sure to choose natural stone or fire-resistant cultured stone, which is also highly resistant to temperature fluctuations.

In the kitchen and dining room

Stone cladding is a great way to separate areas in the kitchen or to give a luxurious look to the kitchen island, the bar counter or the back of the kitchen. If you use it for areas that get often wet and dirty, choose a polished stone with a water resistant finish which is easy to dry and clean.

In the bedroom

With the help of stone accents you can individuate the different areas in the bedroom, and give the whole space a mysterious look, charm and coziness. Be especially careful when choosing the color and texture of the stone — you do not want to create too intrusive accents that burden the interior unnecessarily — after all, this is the most important room when it comes to your rest.

In the basement

Of course, it depends on the basement — according to its givens you can turn it into a cave-like or medieval vault-like storage room for wine and food, completely cladding it with stone, build a fireplace with stone cladding as a central point of a cozy room for gatherings, or just clad the support columns with stone veneer to freshen them up.

Modern style

For rooms in a modern or minimalist style, use polished travertine, marble or onyx cladding in large panels, which have a generally cold and clean appearance and create a luxurious atmosphere and feeling. You can cover large surfaces, even with darker veneers.

Country and Provence style

Stone cladding is widely used in houses with Country and Provencal interiors. It goes well with wood and floral motifs, especially when the stone is in light and warm colors and with gentle and unobtrusive matte texture. Use it sparingly in order to maintain the light and cozy atmosphere of the premises.

Rustic and chalet style

The interior to which the stone fits the most is undoubtedly rustic. It honors natural materials — rough, solid wood and stone. There you can use stone cladding boldly and in large quantities. Choose rough natural shapes and colors — field stone, river rocks, limestone, etc. — for the fireplace, the walls, the floor.
